Early life

Saitō was born on July 6, 2003, in Asao-ku, Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture. She has one older sister three years her senior.[3]

In 2018, Saitō revealed in an interview that she was bullied when she was in the third grade of elementary school and the first and second grades of junior high school. And that because of these experience's she wanted to become an idol, she recalled:

When I was in my first year of junior high school, the seniors would say all sorts of things to me... At that time, AKB48 was on TV a lot, and watching them really cheered me up, and the lyrics of their songs really encouraged me. The lyrics were about situations similar to the one I was in, and they really hit home, and I realized I'm not the only one going through this kind of pain. I was saved in so many ways by idols, so I wanted to become an idol who could give energy to everyone.[4]
