Nghiêm Xuân Tú

Nghiêm Xuân Tú (born 28 August 1988) is a Vietnamese footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for V.League 1 club Becamex Bình Dương.^[1][2]

In this Vietnamese name, the surname is Nghiêm, but is often simplified to Nghiem in English-language text. In accordance with Vietnamese custom, this person should be referred to by the given name, Tú.

Early life

Nghiem Xuan Tu was born in Hanoi. He is the son of a famous football manager Nghiem Xuan Manh, who once led Hoa Phat Hanoi and Phu Tho FC.^[3]

Career

Nghiêm Xuân Tú has grown up from the amateur football movement, and has participated in the Vietnam National Junior Football Championship in 2003. Then he became a phenomenon in the Hanoi. FLC Thanh Hoa is the first professional football team Xuan Tu played. In his first professional debut on 12 May 2013, on the Thanh Hoa Stadium, he scored a goal after 5 minutes.^[4] In 2016, Nghiêm Xuân Tú received a job offer at the football team 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Fortuna Düsseldorf but he has decided to stay in V.League 1 due to an injury.^[5][6]

Personal life

In 2014, Nghiem Xuan Tu married singer Pham Thanh Thuy after 10 months of dating.^[7] The couple has two sons together: Nghiem Xuan Tung (born in 2014) and Nghiem Xuan Tung Anh (born in 2018).^[8] Xuan Tu is also the older brother of Nghiem Manh Hieu (born in 2004), who is playing for the Hanoi U-19 team.^[9]

Off the field, Xuan Tu is also considered a "fashion icon" of Vietnamese football players.^[10][11]
