Club career

Fernández is a youth academy graduate of Rentistas. He made his professional debut for the club on 1 March 2021 in a 5–0 league defeat against Plaza Colonia.^[2]

International career

Fernández is a former Uruguay youth international. In October 2021, he was called up to the Uruguay under-20 team for friendlies against Costa Rica and Honduras.^[3]

On 1 September 2024, Fernández made his debut for Uruguay A' national team in a 1–1 draw against Guatemala.^[4]
