Palataka (book)

Palataka (Bengali: পলাতকা; English: "The Runaway"^[1] or "The Fugitive"^[2]) is a Bengali poetry book written by Rabindranath Tagore Tagore. It was published in 1918.^[3][4][5][1] It consists of 15 poems.^[5][6]

Background

There were mainly two points behind the writing of the book "Palataka".^[4] These are: (a) the political tensions and (b) the serious social conditions of the Indian women.^[4] The book shows Tagore's rebellious nature and reflects his sensitivity to social life.^[3][4]
