Scientific language (linguistic classification)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scientific language is a form of prose that has certain scientific terms and aims to articulate conclusions drawn from experiments and observations. It is used in scientific texts and is objective, concise, and empirical.[1][2]

Description

In applying the methods related to scientific discourse, such as experimentation, concept definition, and compilation and evaluation of findings, everything must be clear, precise and understandable; therefore, the language of science aims to be a mathematical language that guarantees precision.

Scientific language is impersonal. It explains the phenomenon in question, and doesn't explain the subjective situations of the people involved.[3]

Scientific language doesn't contain normative language. It does not explain what and how truth and reality should be, but what they are. It is a language consisting of hypotheses and variables.[1]
