History
It was founded in 2013 as a Syrian Turkmen militia in Latakia, funded by Turkey to overthrow Bashar al-Assad.[3]
It is reportedly responsible for the torture of a man trying to flee to Kurdish-held territory (Sheikh Maqsood, controlled by the People's Protection Units). In 2014, it cooperated with the local Kurdish Front against the Islamic State in the Aleppo Governorate. In 2015, it merged into the Sultan Murad Division, but they later split up again.[4]
After the fall of Assad (December 2024), it participated in the Manbij clashes and the Western Syria clashes against the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces.[5]
