Perspective

Last updated April 17, 2025

This is a full list of ice hockey players who have played for the Montreal Canadiens from their debut in 1909 to the last updated date. It includes players that have played at least one regular or playoff game for the Canadiens.

As of April 17, 2025, 988 players (forwards, defencemen and goaltenders) of which 93 goaltenders have appeared in at least one regular-season and/or playoff game with the Canadiens since they were founded in 1909.

For the players, Number means the number chronologically that the player came to play with the Canadiens. Example: Jos Cattarinich is credited Number 1 meaning he was the first player who played for the Canadiens.

For the goaltenders they are represented with a G following their names and the following number after the G represent chronologically when they disputed their first game. Example: David Aebischer is credited G75 meaning he was the 75th goaltender of the Canadiens.

There are 9 players that are listed to have played 0 game with the Canadiens, meaning that these players have only played in playoff with the Canadiens.

Sprague Cleghorn and Albert Leduc are listed with an asterisk following their name with a G. This means they are normally skaters for the Canadiens but they both replaced the goaltender during a match during a penalty given to the goaltender (in which they played).
