IPNI names versus Wikipedia names

Summarize
Perspective

This is a list of IPNI and Wikipedia names collated by standard abbreviation. Only names that appear in List of botanists by author abbreviation are listed here: if every name in IPNI was listed, this list would be over 50,000 lines long, and a sea of redlinks. Note, though, that names that appear in List of botanists by author abbreviation are included even if they are redlinks.

The first column is the standard abbreviation as it appears at List of botanists by author abbreviation, but cast as a link. If we have an article on the botanist, then this abbreviation should be a blue-link—it should be a redirect to the botanist, or a disambiguation page which mentions the botanist, or an article with a hatnote that allows navigation to the botanist article.

The second column is the full name that IPNI lists under the standard abbreviation, again cast as a link. If we have an article on the botanist, then the IPNI name should be a blue-link—to the article itself, a redirect, a dab page, etc—unless the IPNI name is obviously stupid e.g. "Alexander Karl (Carl) Heinrich Braun". IPNI actually stores the given name and surname separately, and I have manually appended them together. In cultures when the surname precedes the given name (e.g. Chinese), I will have gotten the order wrong.

If the IPNI field is empty, that suggests that the standard abbreviation we are using is incorrect. However, note that the easiest way to scrape the IPNI data is with a wildcard query, and IPNI doesn't support leading wildcards, so I scraped the data by collating the results of queries for "A*", "B*", "C*", etcetera. So if any standard abbreviations start with a non-Latin character, then I might have failed to pull their records out of IPNI, depending on whether IPNI is clever enough to match non-Latin results to a Latin query.

The third column is the target of the author link in List of botanists by author abbreviation.

The fourth column gives hints as to the status of the row.
