From Old Norse þvá, from Proto-Germanic *þwahaną.

Pronunciation

Verb

þvo (mixed conjugation, third person singular past indicative þvoði, supine þvegið, third person past subjunctive þvægi)

  1. to wash, to do (laundry)
    þvo þvott.
    Doing laundry.
  2. (dative reflexive) to wash oneself

Usage notes

  • Þvo is the only verb in Icelandic which ends in an -o.
