Azerbaijani
Noun
تکیه
- Arabic spelling of təkyə

Etymology
From the Arabic verb إتكأ (itakâ, “leaned on”). This root has also spawned متکا (motakâ, “bolster pillow”) from Arabic مُتَّكَأ (muttakaʔ, “a place where one reclines; pad, bolster, cushion”) and expresses religious symbolism associated with it through the life-sustaining concept of “leaning upon God”.
