Inherited from Prakrit 𑀲𑀲𑀼𑀭 (sasura), from Sanskrit श्वशुर (śvaśura), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *swáćuras, from Proto-Indo-European *swéḱuros (“father-in-law”). Cognate with Urdu سُسَر (susar).
