Cognate with Avestan 𐬙𐬀𐬭𐬱𐬥𐬀 (taršna), Persian تشنه (tešne), Ancient Greek τέρσομαι (térsomai), Latin terra, Old Armenian թառամիմ (tʻaṙamim, I wither), Old English þurst (whence English thirst). Related to तृष्यति (tṛ́ṣyati).
