Recorded as an ancient form of 龍 in the Kangxi dictionary in 1716 AD. Earlier dictionaries such as Longkan Shoujian 《龍龕手鑑》 in 997 AD and Jiyun 《集韻》 in 1037 AD recorded the glyph as 𥪖.
