First attested in the Sohak eonhae (小學諺解 / 소학언해), 1586, as Middle Korean 진〯지〮 (Yale: cǐncí).

Pronunciation

  • Phonetic hangul: [(ː)]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
