Pronunciation
Suffix
-е́ть or -еть • (-étʹ or -etʹ)
- The infinitive suffix for some verbs; often indicates an intransitive or perfective verb. Becomes -ать (-atʹ) after hushing consonants (ж ч ш щ) or ц. Becomes -ять (-jatʹ) after vowels. Forms both class-5 and class-1 verbs. Probably not productive in class-5 verbs except possibly for onomatopoeic verbs.
