From Latin -āneitās, from -āneus + -tās. By surface analysis, -ane(ous) + -ity.

- Used to form an abstract noun from an adjective, to form the noun referring to the state, property, or quality of conforming to the adjective's description.
- contemporaneous + -aneity → contemporaneity (“the state of being contemporaneous”)
- extemporaneous + -aneity → extemporaneity (“the state of being extemporaneous”)
