From Latin -icus, which forms adjectives of belonging or origin, from Proto-Indo-European *-ikos, *-iḱos. Related to Spanish -ico, which, however, is usually derogatory.
Suffix
-iko (feminine form -ika)
- substituted for o at the end of masculine words to denote a diminutive form
