-yoh

(added to nouns) full of, covered in or with, made of, smelling of; designates a concrete thing that embodies or is invested with the qualities of another.

Examples:

xōchitl (“flower”) → xōchiyoh (“something flowery, full of flowers”)

zacatl (“grass”) → zacayoh (“something grassy, covered with grass”)

zoquitl (“mud, clay”) → zoquiyoh (“something muddy, covered with mud”)

This particle undergoes progressive assimilation (where a consonantal sound assimilates into the one that precedes it) in certain situations:

After ch it becomes -choh
ahhuachtli (“dew”) → ahhuachchoh (“something dewy, covered with dew”)
After l it becomes -loh
citlālin (“star”) → citlālloh (“something starry, full of stars”)
After x it becomes -xoh
nextli (“ashes”) → nexxoh (“something ashy, full of ashes”)
After z it becomes -zoh
eztli (“blood”) → ezzoh (“something bloody, covered with blood”)
