Illustrative of someone (represented by the dominant index finger) escaping from restraints represented by the nondominant hand.

  • This two-handed ASL sign is produced as follows:
    1. Posture the nondominant hand in the “5” handshape about half an arm’s length in front of the neck, nondominant palm facing down. Posture the dominant hand in the “1” handshape with the dominant index finger between the nondominant index and middle finger, pointing up, palm forward.
    2. Move the dominant hand forward to the following posture.
    3. Posture the nondominant hand in the “5” handshape about half an arm’s length in front of the neck, nondominant palm facing down. Posture the dominant hand in the “1” handshape several inches forward from the nondominant hand, palm facing forward.
