A taxonomic species within the family Amaryllidaceae crow garlic, wild garlic, onion grass, spread in whole Europe and North Africa, the Levant and Iran in spot-wise linear clumps under a variety of conditions, thus an aggressive neophyte in the British Isles, North America and Australia, of such strong taste that it spoils the milk of the cows that love to eat it with the grass, or wheat between which it grows, the more obnoxious since it camouflages itself as coarse grass, however still gathered ephemerally in the colder times of the year for cautious cuisine employment of their silverskin-like bulbs and their however stringy leaves, substituting onions as well as garlic by their taste.
