    1. (engineering) A scatter plot which arranges several materials by two material properties.

        Similar approximately uniform spread of materials across logarithmic property scales is found to apply also to derived material properties. This can be seen by viewing the spread of materials along the inclined lines in the Ashby plots, which represent a wide variety of derived parameters.
