Etymology
First attested as boychoyt in 1369. Originally a compound of boek (“beech, Fagus sp.”) and holt (“rising forest”). The second element was later reinterpreted as end (“end”). Compare Lieseind, Lieshout, Liessent, Ulvend and Vaareind.
