Dutch
Etymology
First attested as schaveymont in 1396. Derived from Latin cavatus (“hollowed out”) and mons (“mountain, hill”). The current spelling of the name has been influenced by the nearby Chêvremont, but there is no etymological link between the two toponyms. Compare Kaffeberg and Schweiberg.
See also Central Franconian Sjevemet.
