Etymology

Back-formation from Community Notes, a community-driven feature on X (formerly Twitter) wherein users can add context, such as a fact check, to prominently display below an account's post, such as a tweet, image or video. The feature's name was coined in November 2022, replacing the previous name Birdwatch.
