Dutch feast (plural Dutch feasts)

  1. (archaic) An entertainment where the host becomes drunk before the guests.
    • 1808–10, William Hickey, Memoirs of a Georgian Rake, Folio Society 1995, p. 72:
      We sat to a late hour, but, as I wished to avoid making a Dutch feast of it, I acted with caution and kept tolerably sober.
