1. (motor racing) Initialism of Formula 4: Formula 4 / Formula Four; the fourth level of the FIA single seat open wheel open cockpit formula racing ladder. Unlike many Formula series, the "4" is not a displacement rating, in refers to a performance level below Formula One (“F1”), the third step below it. Many national formula racing series are F4-based series. The current iteration of F4 is a spec series.
