Gibbs-Thomson equation (plural Gibbs-Thomson equations)

1. (thermodynamics) An equation for the structural depression in the freezing point or melting point in a confined geometry, in its compact form: ${\displaystyle \Delta \,T_{m}(x)={\frac {k_{GT}}{x}},}$ where the Gibbs–Thomson coefficient ${\displaystyle k_{GT}}$ assumes different values for different liquids and different interfacial geometries (e.g. spherical, cylindrical or planar).
