K-factor (plural K-factors)

  1. (aeronautics) The number of pulses expected for every volumetric unit of fluid passing through a given flowmeter.
  2. The relative pelleting efficiency of a given centrifuge rotor.
  3. A systematic means of classifying a crude oil according to its paraffinic, naphthenic, intermediate or aromatic nature.
  4. (electrical engineering) A measurement of how well a power transformer can handle harmonic distortion.
  5. (firefighting) The discharge rate from a nozzle, as calculated using a formula.
  6. (metallurgy) The bending capacity of sheet metal, as calculated using a formula.
  7. The proportion of annual average daily traffic occurring in an hour.
  8. (accounting) The ratio of the value of deferrable expenses to the value of estimated gross profits.
  9. (marketing) A measure of growth based on the number of invitations sent by users and the number of resulting conversions.
