- (Noord-Brabant) First attested as kyent in 1247. Perhaps derived from dialectal keen (“split, gully, creek”) with collectivising -t. Compare Keinse and Kinrooi.
- (Limburg) First attested as Keent in 1790. Perhaps derived from dialectal keen (“split, gap”) or keen (“pine tree, Pinus sp.”). Compare Keinse and Kinrooi. See also Limburgish Kieëntj.
