English
Etymology
The at-sign (@) resembles both the feminine ending/element a and the masculine o. The pronunciation ending in /-aʊ/ is from how Latinao would be pronounced; the one ending in /-eɪ/ uses (approximately) the sound of Spanish -e, a vowel between a and o.
