English

Etymology

From Punic + -ism.

Noun

Punicism (plural Punicisms)

  1. A borrowing from Punic.
    • 2025, Cid Swanenvleugel, The Pre-Roman Elements of the Sardinian Lexicon, page 18:
A difficulty in analyzing the material is that not all accepted punicisms in Sardinia have a clear Semitic etymology. In fact, Argiolas has suggested some to be of Berber origin.
