Etymology
From Middle High German rëche, from Old High German rehho, from Proto-Germanic *rekô. Immediately cognate with German Rechen and probably Dutch riek. Also related with Dutch raak, English rake (from Proto-Germanic *rakō). The expected Luxembourgish form is Riech; now predominant Reech is from an eastern dialect (equivalent to local breechen, steechen for briechen, stiechen etc.).
