Indicates a small immediate past portion of the ASL timeline, wherein the past is over the shoulder, the present is immediately in front of the body, and the future is extended farther forward.

  • This one-handed ASL sign is produced with the head turned slightly toward the nondominant side and with the dominant cheek tensed:
    1. Posture the dominant hand in the “X” handshape with the ulnar side of the index finger against the cheek, palm facing back.
    2. Repeatedly flex and loosen the medial joint of the index finger.
