Middle French
Etymology
From Old French avancier, with the -d- added to reflect the Latin prefix ad- (which was an erroneous hypercorrection as the etymon for this term, ab ante, did not contain a -d-).

Conjugation
- As parler except c becomes ç before a and o. May remain c in older manuscripts.
