- (historical) Around the 19th century, a portable changing room that was rolled down a beach to the edge of the sea to allow people to paddle in the sea modestly.
- 1847, “The Watering Places of England. No. VII.—Weymouth.”, in The Traveller’s Miscellany, and Magazine of Entertainment, page 8:
