1. The number of cells in a volume of liquid.
   1. The concentration of various blood cells in a patient's blood.
      • 1875, Transactions of the American Neurological Association, volume 47, page 50:

        When examined early in the course of the disease, there was usually some change, such as an increased cell count, an increase in the globulin content and increased pressure.

   2. The number of bacteria cells in a particular volume of liquid such as blood, milk, etc.
