  1. (genetics) Any agent that causes breaks in chromosomes.

      Chromosomal mutations are recognised as morphological alterations in the gross structure of chromosomes (i.e. they are structural aberrations which can be detected microscopically). Compounds that cause chromosome damage are called clastogens.
