English

Noun

combinational circuit (plural combinational circuits)

  1. (electronics) A switching circuit whose output is determined solely by some combination of its concurrent inputs.
For a combinational circuit, the input (Shannon) entropy is the joint entropy of its input bits, the output entropy is the joint entropy of its output bits, and the output entropy is always less than or equal to the input entropy, even if the quantity of output bits is larger than the quantity of input bits.
