decontent (third-person singular simple present decontents, present participle decontenting, simple past and past participle decontented)

  1. (transitive) To remove some of the features from (an automobile), for example in order to be able to sell it more cheaply.
    • 1990 July, Popular Mechanics, volume 167, number 7, page 17:
      In an effort to lower the base price, VW plans to decontent the car for '91 by removing a number of the currently standard features.
