Etymology

From Latin ēnucleātus, perfect passive participle of ēnucleō (to remove the kernel, stone, etc. from (a fruit, grape)). Equivalent to enucleate + -ion.

  1. (surgery) The surgical removal of an intact organ, especially of the eye and of cysts and tumors.
