exact sequence (plural exact sequences)
- (algebra) A sequence of modules (or groups, vector spaces, etc.; most generally, objects of an abelian category) with adjacent objects connected by homomorphisms (generally, morphisms) such that the image of one homomorphism is the kernel of the next.
