Etymology

Uncertain, perhaps imitative in origin. Earliest occurrence in print, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, is found in the paper The Argot of the Homosexual Subculture by Ronald A. Farrell in 1972, where it was defined as a synonym to anilingus.
