From Old Swedish flere, flæster, from Old Norse fleiri, from Proto-Germanic *flaizô, derived from Proto-Indo-European *pleh₁- (“full, many”). Cognate, among others, with Icelandic fleiri, flestr, Latin plūs and Ancient Greek πλέως (pléōs), πλεῖστος (pleîstos).
