1. (photography, dated) A background used for a headshot.
   • 1922, Abel's Photographic Weekly - Volume 30, Issues 776-783‎, page 567:

     One Hollywood Flood-Lite was used, subdued to 20 amperes and screened by lowering the Lite back of a small headground, until detail in the composition was almost lost to the eye.

   • 1927, American Photography - Volume 21‎, page 12:

     But a card table was folded up and made as fine a headground as one could wish.
