  1. (zoology) An individual polyp of a hydroid colony
    • 1970, Sylvan Meryl Rose, Regeneration‎, page 126:
      NM Stevens (1902) and Emil Godlewski (1904) described the transformation of pieces of stem to hydranths in the marine hydroid.
