  2. The fee or fine for impounding.
  3. The installation of a dam to create a reservoir or similar body of water.
    • 1941, Tennessee Valley Authority, The Pickwick Landing Project, page 285:
      During three seasons prior to impoundage , mosquito catching stations were established in the reservoir area and inspected regularly in order to determine approximately the prevalence of anopheline mosquitoes in the area under natural conditions.
