  1. Any of three species of tree that is tapped in order to make lacquer from the sap.
    1. Toxicodendron vernicifluum, a tree found in China, Japan, and Korea, whose sap contains urushiol.
    2. Toxicondendron succedanea, a tree found in Taiwan and Vietnam, whose sap contains laccol.
    3. Gluta usitata, a tree found in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand, whose sap contains thitsiol.
