From Old Danish listugh, from Old Norse listugr (“clever”). Equivalent to list + -ig. Cognate with Gothic 𐌻𐌹𐍃𐍄𐌴𐌹𐌲𐍃 (listeigs).

Declension
1 When an adjective is applied predicatively to something definite,
the corresponding "indefinite" form is used.
2 The "indefinite" superlatives may not be used attributively.

The difference between listig and slug is similar to the difference between cunning and sly, where slug sounds more deceitful by default.
