live for (third-person singular simple present lives for, present participle living for, simple past and past participle lived for)

1. To deeply enjoy or be fulfilled by something esteemed as very important in one's life.

   I live for knowledge.

2. To find a reason to continue having the will to live.

   He has been chronically depressed and feels he has nothing to live for.

3. To eagerly await or hope for (a significant life event).

   I live for the day I can finally break free from my servitude.
