French
Etymology
Inherited from Middle French logier, from Old French logier, from loge + -er.
Pronunciation
Verb
loger
- (intransitive) to lodge, to stay, to be lodging (to temporarily inhabit)
- Trouver un endroit où loger ― To find a place to stay
- (transitive) to find (someone) a place to stay
- (intransitive) to fit into
Conjugation
This is a regular -er verb, but the stem is written loge- before endings that begin with -a- or -o- (to indicate that the -g- is a "soft" /ʒ/ and not a "hard" /ɡ/). This spelling change occurs in all verbs in -ger, such as neiger and manger.
